Entry level Convertible - The Ford Capri by Ford Australia 1989 - 1994
The Ford Capri was built and Assembled in Australia: Campbellfield, Victoria, with the intention of exporting the Capri to the US market which began in 1991.
The Ford Capri model was very popular based on the Italian design & budget entry convertible when the car was new. Although it had a poor reputation for its reliability, the Ford Capri still exists today due to the strength of the Laser/323 power train upon which it was based.
The Ford Capri production ended in 1994, totalling a number of 66,279 Capri convertibles had ever been built. With 10,347 were right-hand-drive (RHD) models for Oceania & Southeast Asia market, Australia had the most (RHD) vehicle sales totalling a number of 9,787 vehicles sold.
